ESG

In 2022, Talgo continued its commitment to sustainability and social responsibility. These are the value drivers of the activity, and we continue understanding and applying them in an increasingly consolidated manner.
At Talgo, we are aware that our activities, products and services must have the utmost respect for the environment, and we are committed to protecting the environment by taking a firm, environmentally-sustainable approach.
- We are convinced that the future of the global economy will be defined by limiting carbon emissions. At Talgo we observe pollution prevention principles and train our employees to control and reduce the impact that their daily tasks may have on the environment.
- Our hazardous and non-hazardous waste management is carried out by authorised personnel. We work with accredited labs that supervise and control air emissions and wastewater. We also rely on environmental guidance provided by technical legal advisers.
- In addition to complying with applicable regulations and standards, Talgo has created a series of environmental indicators that are monitored on a regular basis, including: energy, water, diesel and natural gas consumption, environmental incident rate, expired product management, waste generation, and paint and solvent use.
Talgo's Environment Management System is in line with the standard UNE EN ISO 14001:2015, and is implemented and certified by an independently accredited body.
Innovation

Talgo uses innovation as a tool to foster the development of technologies aimed at improving people lives, especially those of specific groups with disabilities.
- We bring innovative solutions to the table.
- We wish to foster knowledge and the development of new technology to improve the travel experience for passengers and make it easier for them, especially for those with reduced mobility. In this regard, we have undertaken many initiatives, amongst them "Train on your Mobile," which developed in partnership with the ONCE foundation (Spanish foundation for the Blind and Visually Impaired) to improve access to information for people with disabilities when travelling and to improve train-platform accessibility on suburban trains.
- At Talgo, we strive to use innovation to help conserve and provide a sustainable environment.
- We do not stray from our railway principles, which emphasise manufacturing trains that are light, comfortable, fast, safe and accessible.
- We believe in energy efficiency, and seek to achieve it by researching and applying new materials to create lighter body frames. We understand that by optimising energy consumption we can reduce CO2 emissions during all phases of railway operations.
At Talgo innovation is seen as a corporate process. It is systematic and structured, and strengthens the social and cultural foundations of our company.
Responsible purchases

Talgo has developed an ethics code for its suppliers, according to which they are required to comply with the regulations, applicable in the country of operation.
Talgo ensures responsible purchases by way of:
- Talgo suppliers must also observe human rights as internationally-recognised in the "International Bill of Human Rights,” as well as those laid out in the fundamental conventions of the International Labour Organisation. Talgo suppliers must also minimise their environmental impact by observing all applicable statutes and regulations and by adhering to international protocols for environmental protection.
- In matters of occupational safety, our suppliers must achieve and maintain high levels of safety in their facilities for employees, products, services, contractors, clients and local surroundings.
- Talgo enforces strict compliance requirements and tax haven control measures.
- We also aim to develop the local supply chain wherever we base ourselves. For example, in Kazakhstan, Spanish suppliers have contributed to the development of the country's industry, but have also been allowed to grow in their own right.
